Men are getting more creative when it comes to proposals these days. Full page newspaper ads, “Will You Marry Me” billboards, jumbo screens at major sporting events and “Marry Me?” sky-writing are becoming part of the norm. They know the extraordinary story of how they got engaged will be told for the years to come. We’re even impressed with the guys who can pull a “flash mob proposal” together – definitely a memory that will last a lifetime!

Morning after photo session

Nothing captures special moments, big and small, like a photo and needless to say, a wedding photographer is an absolute must, but is this intimate photography trend going a bit too far? The “Morning After” photo session captures the bride and groom’s first morning together as husband and wife and it’s a bit on the naughty side. While many couples might think the morning after their wedding is a very private, intimate time, many are inviting photographers into the bedroom to capture the scene. What do you think?

Sneak peeks

Getting married in a new destination or at an unfamiliar resort can sometimes increase stress levels. And although your DestinationVows Specialists assures couples they are very familiar with the resort and destination, there is something to be said about experiencing it for yourself. We encourage our couples to get a ‘sneak peek’ at their wedding resort and destination with a short 3-or 4-night stay. These quickie getaways allow couples the chance to get to know their wedding resort, meet with the wedding co-ordinator and see the ceremony location. Then, should anything not be as they thought, last minute changes can be made to ensure the wedding day is as perfect as possible.

All in one locale

The Mandarin Oriental hotel in Las Vegas, together with a selection of the world’s elite couture and luxury brands, has recently announced their Ultimate Luxury Wedding Package. It includes everything a bride and groom could ever want to ensure a picture-perfect day. Before the wedding, the bride is treated to a private dress consultation at Lanvin, followed by bridal shoe selection at Jimmy Choo, and a diamond pendant from Harry Winston. On the wedding day, the couple, witnessed by up to 200 friends and family, will exchange vows at the Mandarin Oriental and toast with their new Baccarat champagne glasses. Following the wedding, the bride and groom will enjoy a luxurious honeymoon for seven nights at any Mandarin Oriental hotel of their choice. It’s an all-encompassing packages that makes planning a luxurious wedding in Sin City – oh so indulgent.

Look for brides in flapper fringed dresses and grooms in fedoras and bowties as wedding fashions n 2013 swing with the glam of the roaring twenties. The release of The Great Gatsby in May 2013 plus the growing popularity of shows like Downtown Abby and Boardwalk Empire have hugely influenced this growing vintage trend. Many brides will be the ‘bees knees’ on their wedding day wearing stunning beaded dresses with tassels and fringe as well as ornate head pieces accented with crystal, feathers and pearls.

DestinationVows’ Italian Style

Historic churches, castles, breath-taking landscapes, beautiful coastlines and just the total romance the country exudes are just a few of the reasons why Italy is one of the hottest destinations for weddings these days. The popularity of cruise vacations has also opened up the opportunity for couples to hop off, get married, then hop back on for the honeymoon. Imagine the wedding of your dreams in locations like the rolling Tuscan countryside, picturesque Lake Como or the ever popular Portofino region, commonly known as the Italian Riviera.
