How long have you been planning destination weddings?
I have been planning Destination Weddings for over seven years. Before planning Destination Weddings, I was a Public Relations director for a luxury resort in Riviera Maya. Part of my responsibilities was organizing events for celebrities and government officials. This experience gave me a very strong foundation as to what is needed to plan successful events of all kinds.
Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
I love traveling and I am passionate about helping people plan travel experiences that they would cherish forever. I specialize in Destination Weddings because they offer a wonderful alternative to couples that are looking for spectacular settings and wish to spend quality time with their friends and family.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
I love everything about my job, I really enjoy the first consultation when I get to hear about you and the vision of your dream wedding. I love this part because it gives me the opportunity to get to know you better and it allows me to understand what you are looking for and how I can make your dream wedding come true.
Which destination is your favorite and why?
I have many favorite destinations, it all depends on what type of vacation I am looking for. My favorites spots for a romantic escape are: St. Lucia, Aruba, Australia, Mexico and Bora Bora. I love St. Lucia because it offers pristine beaches with astounding backgrounds, it offers all sorts of adventure and water activities and very unique resorts. For destination weddings, I love Riviera Maya and Jamaica because they offer beautiful beaches, a wide variety of excursions, unique culinary options, and great value for our couples.
Do you have a wedding story you would like to share with us?
My first destination wedding was for a couple living in NY. They had met in Europe and both were living in the United States but, their families lived in different countries and did not speak a common language. The couple wanted a beach wedding, she wanted a ceremony that would not be religious and would somehow be “language free.” She did not like large hotels and her dream was to have her grandmother attending her wedding. Unfortunately, her grandmother needed a wheelchair and was not able to travel long distances. After two consultations, I suggested a small boutique hotel right by the Caribbean ocean. The hotel was composed by standalone villas with private pools and outdoor showers. A very romantic hotel, with a local flavor yet a very practical hotel in terms of layout. The hotel was able to make some arrangements on the beach so her grandmother could attend a heartwarming Mayan ceremony that took place with the ocean as the background. Perfect for them! After they returned home, I received a very touching letter from her grandmother thanking me for giving her the chance to see her granddaughter getting married and for giving her the opportunity to feel the sand and see the ocean once more.
