About Debbi

  • How long have you been planning destination weddings?
    Since May 2001

  • Why did you choose to become a Destination Wedding Specialist?
All the aspects of planning a wedding are not only time-consuming and exhausting, but can be mind boggling to a newly engaged couple or a couple who has years of life together and want to start the next phase of life together with a renewal of vows. I help alleviate the stress, worry, choices and even provide a buffer for the couple with not only booking a wedding time and place but I’m with them every step of the way and provide services they may not even consider as part of their event of a lifetime.

  • What’s your favorite part of the job?
Knowing the couple has all bases covered and they can let go – not having to worry are all the boxes checked off and has everything been handled - and enjoy this crazy, wonderful time of their lives.

  • Which destination is your favorite and why?
My favorite destination is the Caribbean. From ceremony and reception sites to activities outside of the wedding events, these beautiful islands offer so many options for the couple and any guests they might be able to include.

  • Do you have a wedding story you would like to share with us?
July 2016, I had a wedding group of 70 guests at Sandals Whitehouse. I handled everything for the couple from helping select the save the dates and invitations to initial guest contact to receiving RSVPs to even accompanying the group to the property and during the wedding. The entire week was problem free. Not one issue or mistake…even wedding day was the only day we didn’t have an afternoon rain shower.

  • Do you have a quick tip for us?
Try to make the guest arrivals on two separate days and within a short time frame so the engaged couple can spend time enjoying the property and any guests that are already on property and not break up their days with greeting guests at the front lobby. Have guests arrive shortly after check-in time enabling them to go directly to the room and start enjoying the resort amenities as they envisioned. This will also allow for a later departure from their home airport and not such a long travel day. Have the bride and groom meet with the on-site wedding team the day after their arrival to get the final decision making out of the way allowing for the relaxation to truly start. If the couple can, have them visit the potential property (Sandals Test Drive Your Wedding) and meet with the wedding planner(s). Other potential properties can be visited as well on this trip.
